Who needs La La Land when you can be in Lalo Land?

But in all seriousness Lalo needs to be on your list of top new restaurants to try in Manhattan. Brought to you by El Rey's ex-chef, Gerardo Gonzalez, Lalo features Californian-Mexican cuisine to the city with a lot of style, class and boldness. While I have been to many incredible Mexican delis and restaurants, I had never tried new/modern Mexican cuisine. Lalo brings a new depth of flavor to traditional Mexican fare where tostadas with sardines actually taste delicious and dry aged steak marinated in hazelnut oil and toasted hazelnuts is more exciting than that same old ribeye at the same old steakhouse.

Favorites

1. Cumin lamb barbacoa- This incredible lamb off the bone is one of the best lamb dishes I have had in any restaurant!

2. 3.5 oz Baby steak- You'll think of this dish over and over again. Steak in hazelnut oil with crushed hazelnuts may sound weird but it is delicious.

3. Coconut rice- I love the sweet and savoriness of this rice. You'll want to have this side dish for the meats you order.
